Tungsten Target Chemical Properties
Tungsten target is prepared from tungsten powder with 99.95% purity, i.e. its raw material is tungsten (W), and that is to say, it also has part chemical properties of tungsten.
Tungsten target owns some chemical properties of tungsten, the reaction at room temperature, high temperature conditions are similar, and specific performance is as follows:
At room conditions:
It will not react with water, air, (concentrated) sulfuric acid, (concentrated) hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, nitric acid and aqua regia and other chemicals, but can be quickly dissolved in a mixed acid, concentrated nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid, and not react with alkaline solution.
Aqua regia is composed of HCL and HNO3, whose volume ratio is 3: 1, and its liquid can take the yellow mist. It is highly corrosive and highly perishable, so it should be made up each time when you need it.
When the temperature is raised to 80 ° - 100 ° C, the above-mentioned various acids, except hydrofluoric acid, tungsten will work with other acid for weak reaction. In the air, tungsten can be oxidized into tungstate by the molten soda, if there are oxidant (NaNO2, NaNO3, PbO2, KClO3), the reaction will be more intense.
High temperature conditions:
It can react with carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, sulfur, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine, but not hydrogen.
The reaction with oxygen element, chemical reaction formula is as follows:
W + O2 = 2WO3
W + S = WS2
W + Se = WSe2
W + Te = WTe2
The reaction with the halogen element, chemical reaction formula is as follows:
W + 3F2 = WF6
W + 3Cl2 = WCl6
W + 3Br2 = WBr6
W + 2I2 = WI4
